Ketalar is a nonbarbiturate anesthetic chemically designated dl 2-(0-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino) cyclohexanone hydrochloride. It is formulated as a slightly acid (pH 3.5-5.5) sterile solution for intravenous or intramuscular injection in concentrations containing the equivalent of either 10, 50 or 100 mg ketamine base per milliliter and contains not more than 0.1 mg/mL Phemerol (benzethonium chloride) added as a preservative. The 10 mg/mL solution has been made isotonic with sodium chloride.

Indications for Ketalar 100mg/ml Injection
KETALAR (ketamine hydrochloride) injection is indicated:
Firstly as the sole anesthetic agent for diagnostic and surgical procedures that do not require skeletal muscle relaxation. Secondly for the induction of anesthesia prior to the administration of other general anesthetic agents.
Thirdly as a supplement to other anesthetic agents.
Dosage and Administration of Ketalar 100mg/ml InjectionD
Important Dosage And Administration Information
KETALAR should be administered by or under the direction of physicians experienced in the administration of general anesthetics, maintenance of a patent airway, and oxygenation and ventilation. Continuously monitor vital signs in patients receiving KETALAR.
However emergency airway equipment must be immediately available.Do not administer the 100 mg/mL concentration of KETALAR intravenously without proper dilution
Overdose
Respiratory depression can result from an overdosage of ketamine hydrochloride. Supportive ventilation should be employed. Mechanical support of respiration that will maintain adequate blood oxygen saturation and carbon dioxide elimination is preferred to administration of analeptics.
Ketalar has a wide margin of safety; several instances of unintentional administration of overdoses of Ketalar (up to 10 times that usually required) have been followed by prolonged but complete recovery.
